Producer Information

Viña Pomal is one of the most exceptional and traditional wines in the country. A wine, faithful like few to the classic style of the authentic Rioja. The excellent characteristics of the vineyard, owned by the same winery, the painstaking selection of the grapes and the elaborate process of ageing in American oak bordelaise barrels give Viña Pomal that unique style that makes it an icon among Rioja wines. Since its first appearance, in 1908, Viña Pomal has been able to adapt to the new times without losing sight of the original characteristics that gave it its recognition and prestige.

Wine Making

Viña Pomal Rosado is made using the “saignée” method. Once the grapes enter the winery they are destemmed and crushed in the traditional manner, after which they are poured into a tank where they undergo light cold maceration for at least 12 hours. When the mustattains the desired colour it is “bled”, which consists of separating the freerun juice from the skins. The must is then fermented at a controlled temperature of 14 ºC to preserve the wine’s aromas and freshness.
