Azienda Uggiano

Redcurrant, morello cherries and spice, with plum and bramble characters, red cherry, supple tannins and balancing acidity.

Producer Information

Winemaker Giuseppe Losapio founded Azienda Uggiano in the early 1970s, and steadily developed the estate at San Vincenzo a Torri. It is now one of the leading producers in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini zone.

Uggiano produces classic and classy Tuscan reds from the region`s principal grape varieties. A core of quality runs through an unfussy, practical and exceptional range from bright entry level Chianti to some impressive Riserva wines.

Wine Making

After a soft pressing, Sangiovese and Syrah undergo separate, temperature-controlled fermentations in stainless steel using selected yeasts. After 15-18 days both wines are separated from the skins. The Syrah is aged in French oak barrels for 9 months while the Sangiovese is stored in stainless steel before blending.

Tasting Note

Pure fresh red fruits on the nose, redcurrant and morello cherries, with warm spicy notes and a hint of oak. The palate has ripe plum and bramble characters along with bright red cherry fruit. Supple, structured tannins and balancing acidity give a full finish.

Food Matching

Charcuterie such as salami or rich meat and game dishes. Brisket, pork chops or anything bold will work, along with slow roasted vegetable dishes.
