Sokol Blosser, Dundee Hills Pinot Noir

In 1971, the Sokol Blosser family planted grapes on just five acres in the Dundee Hills. As one of the pioneering wineries of the region, Sokol Blosser has played a key role in developing and shaping the now-prominent Oregon wine industry. The winery is family owned and operated, with the second generation now at the helm: siblings Alex and Alison Sokol Blosser.

The estate has grown to more than 86 acres under cultivation, and the winery works to create wines of world-class quality, produced in a sustainable manner, which reflect the distinctive flavours of the grapes, soil, and climate.

The grapes from this block were carefully harvested on October 27th, marking the beginning of a meticulous production process. Once at the winery, the clusters were sorted by hand to ensure only the highest quality fruit remained, removing any flawed bunches before being 100% de-stemmed directly into 3-ton stainless steel fermenters.

Ambient fermentation was allowed to take place naturally, utilizing the fruit`s native yeasts, while the cap was managed through regular punch-downs to optimize extraction. After the fermentation process reached completion and the wine was pressed off the skins at dryness, it was barreled down into 100% French oak.

The wine was aged for 16 months in a combination of 19% new oak and 18% neutral barrels. This careful maturation period allowed the wine to develop its full character and complexity before it was finally prepared for bottling.
