Dark fruit aromas and spice, with plum and bramble, a hint of vanilla, pepper and supple tannins.
Collis-Riondo is one of the largest producers in Veneto, and in Italy itself, with around 2,400 growers covering 6,500 hectares producing a wide portfolio of wines, and access to good quality fruit. Their strength is in local varietals and wine styles - including Valpolicella and Amarone.
After manual-picking in mid-September, the Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone grapes are stored on racks in drying rooms, until the January following the harvest. Fermentation takes place with skin contact and continual pumping over. The wine is aged in oak for 24 months.
Rich aromas of ripe black cherry and plum, with dried fruit characters and a touch of toasty spice. The palate is plush with ripe plum and bramble characters, a hint of vanilla and pepper, supple tannins and juicy acidity.
A good match for rich pasta dishes, game and grilled or roasted red meats.
