Blue and black fruits, wet stone and pepper; juicy, supple palate, fine tannins, and an energetic finish.
Housed in a historic 1902 winery in Cartaxo, Ode Winery marries heritage and innovation. Relaunched in 2021 with a focus on “Minimal Intervention, Maximum Attention,” Ode farms organically and regeneratively, prioritising soil health and biodiversity.
Fermentation is driven by native yeast and sensitive oak use, while traditional techniques — from foot-treading in stone lagares to carbonic maceration — sit alongside cutting-edge methods. The result: wines that are vibrant, terroir-driven, and unmistakably Tejo.
Whole-bunch carbonic maceration for 6 days, followed by gentle pressing and a short élevage in ovoid vessels. Spontaneous fermentation, minimal sulphur, and early bottling preserve vibrancy and freshness.
A fresh, playful expression of Touriga Nacional. Soft blue and black fruits, wet river stones, and a crack of black pepper lift from the glass. The palate is juicy, bright, and supple, with fine, pliant tannins and an energetic finish — more Beaujolais cru than Douro powerhouse.
Serve slightly chilled with charcuterie, grilled sardines, or roast chicken. Also excellent with mushroom skewers, barbecue pork, or tapas-style small plates.
