Les Vignerons d’Estezargues

Very juicy and soft, with gentle flavours of blackberry, liquorice, pepper and nutmeg.

Producer Information

Les Vignerons D’ Estézargues is a co-operative cellar in the small town of Estézargues, near Avignon. They are truly unique in the wine world. All over France the co-op still plays a very important role in the production and sale of wine. Co-ops receive grapes from members to make wine. The wine is made in large batches and grapes from many different vineyards are vinified together, the focus being on producing wine in quantity.

They take a fundamentally different approach. Starting in 1995 the ten different growers in this co-op began to vinify their wine separately and make single cuvées from their best plots. Following this, they began to practice natural winemaking, possibly one of the only co-ops in the world to do so.

They use no external yeasts, no filtering, no fining and no enzymes during the winemaking process. With the arrival of Armelle Rouault (CEO & winemaker) and Anna Tyack (Sales Director) at the helm of the cooperative in early 2021, they are among the pleasantly growing number of female-led wineries.

Wine Making

Maturation takes place in stainless steel tanks for a period of 10-15 days. No yeasts, no enzymes, no new oak, no filtering or fining and no SO2 before bottling.

Tasting Note

Very juicy with a soft, slightly cloudy purple colour and gentle flavours of blackberry, liquorice, pepper and nutmeg.

Food Matching

Great with cold cut or barbecued meats. Also works slighly chilled.
