The Moroccan influence gives it warmer aromas and the palate is powerful, very melted notes and ripe red fruits.
In 2001 Gérard Gribelin and Philippe Gervoson fell in love with Domaine de la Zouina. Struck by the richness of the terroir, the particularity of the soil and the climate, they were certain that they could produce unique results. So, they decided to translate their passion and wine-making savoir-faire from Pessac-Leognan to Morocco.
Philippe Gervoson also owns Château Larrivet Haut-Brion in Pessac-Léognan. The wine it produces is often cited by Robert Parker as one of the best in the world. Located at the foot of the Middle Atlas, about twenty km south of Meknes and Volubilis, the Domaine de la Zouina is part of the largest wine region of Morocco.
Grapes are carefully harvested at their most complete maturity and the bunches sorted manually. The berries are protected from the air, with a slow fermentation, the cold maceration for 20 days. The wine is raised from its primary state through “élevage” 25% in Barriques and 75% in Cuvees. Bottle unfined and unfiltered.
The nose is full of black fruits and shows beautiful maturity. The traditional characters of Cabernet Sauvignon are expressed well, and the Moroccan influence gives it warmer aromas (garrigue, ripe red pepper). The palate is very powerful, even heady. The first impression is tannic, but ends with very melted notes where the fruit reappears.
A perfect parnter to red metas such as beef, lamb and game.
