Unit 7 Scandinavia Court,
Chain Bar Road, Cleckheaton,
West Yorkshire, BD19 3QW
Delicate and creamy, yet rich with citrus and ripe apricots and a dry, refreshing finish.
The La Battistina estate consists of 26ha of mature vineyard including 5ha in Gavi del Comune di Gavi. The property was acquired by leading Piemonte producer Araldica in 2002, establishing their reputation as a Gavi specialist, with the largest vineyard holdings in the region.
La Battistina is renowned as among the best sites in Gavi and is produced by the Araldica winemaking team, overseen by Claudio Manera and Lella Burdese`s son Carlo.
The vineyards are south facing and the soil, chalky and mineral, which allows full ripening and excellent drainage and improved concentration. Grapes are harvested a week ahead of the main harvest to retain the higher acidity essential for sparkling wines.
The hand harvested grapes are whole bunch pressed in a pneumatic press and subjected to a temperature controlled fermentation in small 100hl pressure tanks and spend 3 months on lees.
An interesting nose of crystallised ginger, citrus, apple, jasmine and a hint of spice. The palate is delicate, yet rich with citrus and ripe apricots. The mouthfeel is creamy and the finish is dry and refreshing.
At its best as an aperitif.
