Heaphy Vineyards

Citrusy notes, with concentrated margarita zest, green apple, a rich mouthfeel and an intense finish.

Producer Information

Heaphy Vineyard is a small winery in the north-west corner of New Zealand’s South Island, a region named Nelson Tasman. Our winery is situated high above Tasman Bay on the Moutere Hills, where our 10ha of long-established vineyards are defined by Moutere’s signature clay soils. First planted in 1973, the vines are amongst the very oldest productive vineyards in New Zealand.

Heaphy Vineyard are certified "Sustainable Wine Growing New Zealand". This means that their wines are made from grapes grown in 100% SWNZ-certified vineyards and produced in 100% SWNZ-certified winemaking facilities. To be SWNZ certified, all members must complete annual submissions and undergo regular on-site audits conducted by an independent verification company.

Wine Making

100% Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards in Tasman, Upper Moutere and Waimea Plains. Fruit was cold pressed to tank for fermentation, settled and racked, allowed to rest on fine lees for 8 months prior to slight filtration and bottling.

Tasting Note

Pink citrus notes greets a palate of concentrated margarita zest, green and red apple notes with a rich mouthfeel, fine leesy texture and an intense finish of breadth, freshness and further telltale salinity.

Food Matching

Try with scallops seared in butter, chilli prawn linguine, goats cheese and roast red pepper salad.
