The Wine Love

Juicy strawberry, raspberry, cherry and violets notes, with clean mineral tones and real character.

Producer Information

Gran Cerdo is a great wine dedicated to the bank executives that denied loans to us on the basis that wine is not a seizable asset. One day, these greasy and sweaty corporate suits will find that the best things in life cannot be impounded. Thanks to our friends help, we were finally able to bottle this wine. Gonzalo Gonzalo Grijalba was born in Logroño, Spain and grew up amongst his parents vineyards. Fiercely protective of the terroir of his family vineyards, Gonzalo rejects market driven fashions, formulae, chemical treatments and conformism. He has sought out his own methods with respect for the land, his vineyards, and tradition. His father`s illness from years of working with chemical herbicides and pesticides was a major influence in his wine making. Gonzalo has worked hard to restore the vitality of the vineyards and has revived natural treatments and biodynamic practices to maintain healthy vineyards.

Wine Making

Working organically, they also follow the lunar cycle in vineyard and the winery. In the end Gran Cerdo is all about the purest expression of fruit with whole bunch fermentation, no filtration, no stabilization and minimal sulphur.

Tasting Note

All the juicy elements of Tempranillo, with no dirty oak to mask its charm. It is naturally made, but with no funkiness. Primary notes of fresh fruit, strawberries, raspberries, cherries and violets with clean mineral tones from the granite.

Food Matching

Pair with roasted chicken, slow cooked shoulder of lamb, casseroles and stews.
