Domaine de l’Ancienne Cure

White peach, confit fruits, honey, ample in the mouth and fresh as nectar.

Producer Information

Fifth generation winemaker, Christian Roche inherited a portion of the property in 1984. Five years later, he decided to build the cellar in order to become an independent winegrower. After a few more years of continuing his efforts to develop better wines, he noticed that conventional agricultural practices impoverished the soils and the quality of wines. So he decided to go back to basics and to respect the land and the vines. The culmination of this process was the decision to convert the entire property to organic farming. After three years of conversion the winery was certified organic in 2012.

Wine Making

The Monbazillac is produced with a blend of Semillon and Muscadelle, using dried and botrytised grapes, that are passed, racked and fermented in vats for 20 days. Regular batonnage on the fine lees.
