Juicy fresh red fruits, sour cherry and crunchy red apple, with a light natural fizz.
At Château Picoron, they explore the potential of the great grape of Merlot, grown in plots surrounding the Château. Their wines are not blended. Each is produced of single plot grapes, from our 4.5ha vineyard. An honest expression of their terroir on the famous St Emilion clay & limestone ridge.
Their approach to wine making is to adapt to nature, rather than to control it. They produce with minimal intervention and invite you to think differently about Merlot, Bordeaux and the wine you drink.
Fermented and preserved naturally under carbonic gas, without sulphites. Natural and Low Intervention wine made from Merlot grapes using the Carbonic Maceration method. A process often associated with the lighter reds of Beaujolais. Chateau Picoron show here with Tattarrattat that even with Merlot this makes for a lighter, brightly coloured and delicious fruity wine.
