Cave de Turckheim, Réserve Riesling

Home White Wines Wines Cave de Turckheim, Réserve Riesling

Aromas of limes and a hint of petrol, with honeyed fruit, zestiness, white peach and minerality.

Producer Information

Widely regarded as one of the best co-operatives in the world, Cave de Turckheim lies at the mouth of the Munster Valley. Working closely with 180 partners, its vineyards span the full breadth of Alsatian terroir and grape varieties.

Committed to producing the highest quality wines, growers are encouraged to keep yields low - for example, Cave de Turckheim voluntarily caps yields for its Grands Crus vineyards at 45hl/ha rather than the permitted 55hl/ha - and to pick the grapes by hand. They are leaders in sustainable growing and winemaking.

Wine Making

Winemaking is traditional in style and is overseen by Michel Lihrmann. Grapes are sourced from selected prime vineyards lying on siliceous soil. Harvesting is by hand or machine, depending on the site.

Pneumatic pressing, temperature controlled fermentation, no finings and light filtration before bottling - all to preserve fruit and aromatic qualities and elegance. His philosophy is to make wines with good acidity and fruit balance.

Tasting Note

A pure, fruit-driven nose, with aromas of cut limes and a hint of petrol. The wine has a perfumed honeyed palate and is intensely fruity, with fresh lime zestiness dominating the palate, followed by notes of white peach and mineral complexity.

Food Matching

The ideal food wine, the fine citrus characters make this Riesling the perfect partner for fish, seafood and shellfish. Good with poultry, particularly roast chicken and hearty summer salads.
