Unit 7 Scandinavia Court,
Chain Bar Road, Cleckheaton,
West Yorkshire, BD19 3QW
Black fruit and spicy aromas, wild plum and bramble fruit, lively acidity and youthful tannins.
Castel del Lupo, in the heart of Oltrepò Pavese, dates back centuries - and includes the eighteenth century Palazzo Pegazzera. In 1974 three entrepreneurs took over this historic estate and began a regeneration process.
Giovanni Doglio, whose father and grandfather were both Piemontese winemakers, was recently joined by his daughter Federica, who have worked tirelessly to develop the estate. The winery`s main focus is high quality bottle-fermented sparkling wine and fine still red wines
The Pinot Noir vines are organically-grown in a combination of chalk, clay and silt soils on the rolling hills of Oltrepo Paveset around 250m altitude on south / south-east facing. The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo a careful selection process before gentle pressing and maceration on the skins for 8-10 days before undergoing malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. The wine was aged in staineless steel to preserve the delicate fruit profile and bottled in spring.
Warm, black-fruited, spicy and complex aromas. The ripe wild plum and bramble fruit is offset by lively acidity and firm, youthful tannins. Excellent concentration and structure with a long and spicy finish.
A great match with rich meat, pasta dishes and cheeses.
