Botas De Barro

Ripe berry fruits with balsamic, toast notes and minerality. Fresh, ripe and juicy with big, soft tannins and a long spicy, meaty finish.

Producer Information

For over 20 years, Nicola Thornton, originally from Sheffield, has created a healthy network of farmers and winemakers throughout Spain in the wine business. She had lots of friends who were grape growers and wine producers and felt like she wanted to give back to them. The growers she knew personally felt disgruntled about being taken advantage of by larger producers and weren’t getting paid decent wages for their crops.

This range of wines pays homage to the generations of farmers that have carefully looked after these historic vines for years assuring that they are perfectly conserved and can be passed on and enjoyed by future generations.

Wine Making

Cool initial maceration at 7oC for around 3 days. Fermentation in stainless steel at 27C. 4 months in French oak. Clarification, cold stabilisation and filtering before bottling.

Tasting Note

Ripe berry fruits with balsamic notes, subtle toast and a hint of minerality. A fresh, ripe and juicy palate with big, soft tannins and a long spicy, meaty finish.

Food Matching

A great wine to pair red meats with smoky and barbeque flavours. Also smoky and aged cheeses.
