Ripe red fruit and floral aromas, with subtle notes of vanilla and spice, gentle tannins and soft finish.
Ontañón is the name of vineyard in a mountain valley in Rioja, where for many generations the Perez-Cuevas family has owned land. The family’s identity is rooted in this sub-region of Rioja, which is located near their hometown of Quel. Our vineyards are, on average, about 800 meters above the sea level. Around 500 Hs in Rioja DOCa, 80 Hs in Ribera del Duero DO, 400 Hs in Rueda DO and 100 Hs in Navarra DO in property.
The Tempranillo grapes used to make Ontañón Kaori come entirely from a collection of plots located in the foothills of the Sierra de Yerga , in the Cidacos Valley, between Monte Gatún and Peña Isasa . The average age of the Ontañón Familia Tempranillo vineyards is around thirty years. Ontañón Kaori is aged for 12 to 15 months in medium-toasted American barrels.

While traditionally, Rioja reds pair well with lamb, Kaori Rioja Tinto`s lighter body and nuanced flavors make it an excellent match for sushi and other Japanese dishes.
