Unit 7 Scandinavia Court,
Chain Bar Road, Cleckheaton,
West Yorkshire, BD19 3QW
Slightly cloudy colour with some spicy-leesy grip at the end of the buttery palate.
Martin started to produce his first vintage in 2002 after practical training in Italy and being inspired by the complexity and diversity in wine. He got the chance to choose the vineyards he wanted to work with on his parents’ estate, namely, ones with old vines and on the best hills of his village.
Anna joined him in 2009 and in 2012 they took over the winery from his parents and now manage 16ha in total. They believe that nature is the strongest force and that the soil is the most intelligent part. They believe that the plants nourish the soil and they adopt a totally minimal intervention approach.
Grapes are from organic viticulture, manually harvested and whole bunch pressed. Some bunches are given a 3-6 hours maceration, then pressed. Ambient fermentation takes place in 60% large, old Austrian oak barrels and 40% in stainless tanks, with no filtration, no fining, and only a small addition of SO2 at bottling.
Exceptional little Gruner, fermented on its own yeasts and aged in a variety of formats including stainless steel and wood. Slightly cloudy colour with good concentration of yellow plum and greengage with some spicy-leesy grip at the end of the buttery palate.
Lovely with vegetables and pasta dishes.
