Unit 7 Scandinavia Court,
Chain Bar Road, Cleckheaton,
West Yorkshire, BD19 3QW
Slightly salty on the palate with noticeable tannins and a smoky finish.
Michael Andert was born into a large family and growing up on a farm with mixed agriculture, livestock and viticulture, he learned to respect his family, his animals and the associated work. Today, as winemaker, this respect has deepened even more. They believe they have found the right way, in the bio-dynamic economy, to press the grapes into sustainable and valuable wines. They respect the earthly and cosmic influences, their soil and also the influence of the seasons on their wines.
Since switching to bio-dynamic in 2003, the work in the vineyard has a higher value. They find it fun to watch more and more animals find a home in their vineyards. This diversity creates a natural balance between pests and beneficial insects, and promotes the health of the wines. They were awarded the Demeter Biodynamic Certification in 2007.
The Rulander (Pinot Gris) grapes were manually harvested, destemmed and fermented in 500ltr oak barrels. The grapes were macerated on their skins for 5 days, before pressing. The wine underwent a natural malolactic fermentation and was matured in 500ltr, 6 year old barrels. Bottled with finning, no filtration and minimal use of sulphur.
Slightly salty on the palate with noticeable tannins and a smoky finish.
Great with game, particularly venison. Also good with braised beef or pork with a heavier sauce.
