Unit 7 Scandinavia Court,
Chain Bar Road, Cleckheaton,
West Yorkshire, BD19 3QW
A richly flavoured and unusually accessible red from the notoriously tannic Aglianico grape.
Cantina di Venosa was founded in 1957 and it is the largest producer of Aglianico wines in the Vulture area of Basilicata.
The grapes are picked in the early morning when the grapes are at theri coldest temperature. Temperature-controlled fermentation (23-28ºC) in stainless steel then the wine is then aged for 15 months in a mixture of small, 25hl French and Slavonian oak casks.
Warm and richly flavoured, packed full of red and black berry fruits with layers of spicy oak and mocha. Bright acidity with a good depth of flavour, and chunky yet supple tannins.
At its best with pasta dishes, red meats and mature cheeses.
